Capt. Phil to appear on “Profiles”

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

In you live in the Seattle area, be sure to watch “Profiles” on Saturday, October 11th on Channel 7 KIRO TV at 10 pm.  If you don’t live in Seattle, then check back with kirotv.com for the video.

Even in this era of reality television, with its unabashed look at the lives of its true-to-life characters and their triumphs and conflicts, no one could have predicted the immense popularity of a show that centers around the life of a group of crab fishermen. Certainly not Seattle’s Phil Harris, captain of the crab boat Cornelia Maria and one of the stars of Discovery Channel’s top-rated series, Deadliest Catch. Harris tells KIRO 7 Eyewitness News anchor Steve Raible, “I’m a crab fisherman, not a celebrity. This show was supposed to be for the middle of the night and it just took off.”

F/V Cornelia Marie in Dutch Harbor

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

The F/V Cornelia Marie has arrived in Dutch Harbor and now begins preparation for the October 15th King Crab opening.  The boat is in great shape after receiving weeks of maintenance and repair in Ketchikan’s dry dock.  The weather was excellent as the Cornelia Marie sailed from Ketchikan to its home port of Kodiak, then onto Dutch Harbor.

The next couple weeks will be busy as the crew loads on crab pots and the Discovery Channel’s video crew once again prepares for another Bering Sea winter.
