Hi Capt Phil, I never comment in blogs and have never ever spent so much time trying to find out how a tv personality is doing! I’m hooked on the show and pray your health returns to full, but even more that you are happy with the decisions you have to make about fishing. perhaps you will be the next coffee king, staying warm, dry and caffeinated up!
hope you had a terrific Christmas with your family and all the best to you and your family in the New Year.
All things work together for good that love the Lord

Capt Phil, I have never missed an episode of my fav show deadliest catch. The episode where you fell ill aired in Australia last night. I went to bed and could not sleep a wink wondering if you are ok. So I searched the internet to find out how you are doing.
I wish you well for the upcoming season and look forward to seeing you and your boys on my TV screen again really soon.
All the best and take care

Adding one more prayer to all the many hundreds (or more) being said for you, your family, & your health, Capt. Phil. I am absolutely “hooked”—pun intended!—on DC & hope you can return, but as others have said, your health is much more important, so take good care of yourself & do what is best to get you healthy again. Murray did a great job–there was really a good cohesiveness. I love the sense of family that can be felt even thru the “tube”, with you, your boys, & also other crews that have multiple family members. Tho I’ve met none of you personally, you all feel like family & are discussed with my family & friends just as tho you were! I pray for all the crews that are out there yearly risking their lives in this high stakes profession. God Bless each & every one of you!

Captain Phil: Even though my wife and I are from Andy’s neck of the woods in Indiana we wish you the best of health and you are in our prayers. We look forward to seeing you at the helm of the Cornelia Marie. Making the ship complete!

Just sending my thoughts and prayers to Capt. Phil for a speedy recovery. My dad had the same problem and so did his father so he made all us kids go for genetic testing and 2 of his 4 kids (including me) carry the gene that make a person more susceptible to clots, so make sure those boys get tested too! You’re my favorite captain (with Jonathan and Sig running a close 2nd and 3rd). I would luv, luv, luv to see you back in season 5, but I would rather see you healthy and safe than taking such a risk with your life just for tv. My dream someday is to visit Alaska. I know I may never make it to Alaska, but if you’re ever in PA I’d love to have a ride on that Harley! Grrrrr baby….you’re a hottie!

Dear Phil,
Hope you are doing better and will be back this season, it isn’t the same without you. I watch the show everyday as reruns but that’s ok. I just like it that much!! I say the reruns beacuse I’ve already seen the original.
My brother had the same thing with blood clots last year and he’s doing pretty good now, it took almost a year for him to feel right. Please always do what the dr says.
My hat is off to you and all the others for what you do, so that people like me can have king crab. You deserve what you get and then some for what you have to go through!!!
Take great care and get better. Tell Jake & Josh “hi” from Richmond, Va.
August 21st, 2008 at 9:16 am
Hey Captain Phil, Jake and Josh…
You guys are my favorites on DC!!! I love that you have your sons out there with you. I come from a long line of commercial fisherman, its in my blood… granted I only fish on Lake of the Woods in lovely Northern Ontario, but I see how it must be killing you to be away from your boat, once a captain always a captain. Hope to see you back on the boat soon, and if your health decides otherwise, You’re still the KING CRABBER!!
God be with you and your crew…

Greetings from Ontario, Canada..Just want to wish Captain Phil all the best and a speedy recovery. Miss you on the show, you were the reason I started watching regularly! You should come up here and fish for pickerel, pike, bass etc!
Get well soon!
August 12th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Greetings to the Cornelia Marie!
I truly admire the fact that you are out there through high waves, cold days and long hours. The high seas are totally unbelieveable, and as I work for a cruise line sometimes the ships starts rocking and rolling in the Gulf of Alaska and we are hit by 10-20 foot swells and everyone panics, I can not imagine being in anything higher, but next time when it starts to get choppy I will think of you and know that our Captains keep us in good hands.
Captain Phil, get better soon, I absolutely love the show and I pray God protects and heals you all.
August 11th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Dear Captain Phil;
I just wanted to pass on to you my best wishes and prayers for you and your Boys and your crew. Great respect to you! And please take better care of yourself! The world is a better place with you in it!
May the bounty of the sea be yours, let the wind be at your back and the seas follow you! Let God give your family Peace of mind, that you will return safe, sound, and with tanks overflowing!
Sincerely,

August 6th, 2008 at 8:34 am
Captain Phil,
I hope this posting finds you well. I know that the possibility of needing to step away from fishing is daunting and I am sure an inconceveable life changing event. My prayers are with you to handle what ever may come. I kmow a small bit about life-changing events. I have a rare eye desease tht is robbing my of my vision with no peripheral vision left. My carer in banking ended. Yet I found a way to paint and now am an artist.Life was good. Then we had a hurricane. Having survived the destruction of my home town, New Orleans, by the failed levees post-Katrina, I I All of my family had homes flooded. 2 home lost. I was lucky enough to be gone only 90 days. Life as I knew was changed forever. But with time things did and will get better. What we here learned in Nawlins as I am sure you already know the most important things in life are your family and freinds. I know that your strength of character, love of familly and a healthy sense of humor will see you through this rough time. Thank you for letting us into your life on the Bering Seas. My best to you boys!
Cheers
Eric

Your biggest fans from WA state wish you well. Sorry we missed you at your appearance on the Kitsap Peninsula, but hope to see you out our way in Graham ( South of Puyallup ) in the near future. Every time we see a Harley or a ‘Vette, we look to see if it is you. Your boys are adorable, and can’t wait to see all of you guys on DC in season 5.

Captain Phil:
Please don’t focus on the death rate from this. Do not be disheartened. No two people, not even mother and son, are EXACTLY the same. Therefore, you’ve got a strong chance at getting past this forever and having a long, happy rest of your life. All your fans from the Deadliest Catch desparately want you back in the wheelhouse! Everyone in your family and on your crew does too. It is a great way to make a living for only a select few. Hope to see you in Season 5, but if you’re not quite ready then, Season 6 for sure!
Believe. Hang in there, follow medical wisdom to a “T”, and you’ll be brand new eventually, (what’s a little extra medicine every day to insure your future?), and soon talking about all of this in the past tense.
Highest and best wishes for you and your wonderful family : ) I’m praying and pulling for you to get back to a well state real soon.
Prayerfully,
Sharie

Hi ya, Capt. Phil and crew. I just started to watch The Deadliest Catch a couple of months ago. I know these are re-runs now, but I sure wish you lots of luck and prayers as well. Hope to see you guys back on the tele on the up-coming season.
I believe the first rerun was when you said something about lions eating their young. That just cracked me up!! I also have sons but they are older than yours, so I know that saying very well.
I am from Chandler, AZ., and it’s very hot over here just like you are. Take care.
July 31st, 2008 at 9:30 am
My husband and I are fans of the show. I’ve always been fascinated by the ocean and feel a strong pull toward her. Ever since I started watching the Deadliest Catch (back in Season 1), I now think more about what it took to get the crab and lobster that occasionally ends up on my plate, and I think about the fishermen who risk their lives to provide it. It seems to me that you guys figure among the modern adventurers.
My best wishes to you, Phil, and your family. Take care of yourself–fishing may be the love of your life, but you have sons to watch over. Do what you have to in order to recover, and here’s wishing the best for you.
July 31st, 2008 at 6:57 am
I have a son Jake, 24 and a son Josh, 21. Phil, I feel your pain. Must have something to do with the names. My husband suffered an ascending aortic dissection in February. They tell us most people don’t survive it so we know what you’re going through there too. He is on the mend and hoping to be released to go back to work in September. I won’t tell you it’s going to be okay, but I will say a prayer for you. There’s a lot more to recovering from something like this than just the physical healing, but the fight is worth it to those who care about you. Hang in there.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Hi Cornelia Marie Captain Phil and Crew
I watch the Deadliest catch religiously. I love the show. I hope it airs for a long time. When people go buy shell fish and complain about the price I hope they take into account what you all go through.
Captain Phil my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You seem to be a big teddy bear with a heart of gold. Do what the Doctors say and you will be back at the helm.
I work for FORCE 10 MARINE. We make Stove/Ovens for fishing boats and private vessels and yachts. Every time I make one and ship it I wonder whom may get this or that one.As a woman if I where 20+years younger I would love to have given my hand at a season. But alas at 44 I couldn’t do that. I’d love to be a cook or 1st aider on a vessel.
When you are back at the helm give a shout out to your fans. Give us a sign like a clenched fist over the heart.
Do take care
love and best wishes from Surrey, British Columbia
Cathy

Greetings from PA! Capt. Phil …. I hope this finds you in good health. I couldn’t help to stop by and offer some words of encouragement. In the one episode, you worried about your legacy. Well bro … your legacy are your boys! The only things that can change that is you. Get better Phil … we’re pulling for you. WE WILL SEE YOU IN SEASON 5!

July 27th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Good Luck Capn’ Phil… dont over do it..blood clots are nasty..remember nbc news david bloom did while covering gulf war…he died …so did that
famous runner…so even though its bad -take the pills/shots/etc for your kids sake and girlfriend and its the right thing to do.if you cant goto sea
maybe you can get a job at discovery channnel ! if you cannot crab/fish/etc per doctor…i thought Murray G did a great job. interesting idea
if Murray is not available or says no…ThE suggestion i had was why not hire the first mate of the wizard Monte Colburn…the wizard website
says he used to be captain of a ship called Sirene and before that the Norseman…both those brothers seemed not to get along well.
i saw on tv about a new drug for treatment of blood clots in the legs…..maybe you can get it good luck best wishes
Ps tell the kids stay well and good luck too!

Capt. Phil - Speedy Recovery. Lovinox stings (been there) but the alternative is worse. Get well soon. Did 12 years U.S. Navy, my sea legs are not programed for 30 or 40 foot waves. Green water over the bow, white water on the stern.
