Captain Phil and CM website alive and well
On Tuesday, we had many people visit our site to learn about the health status of Captain Phil. So many, that our web hosting company decided to drop us off their server. I apologize that many of you came to our site only to find an error page. I am very unhappy and displeased about the service I have received from LunarPages.
Meanwhile, Captain Phil is doing just fine. Of course, he is still monitoring his health and is on medication. But, if you’re in Oregon this weekend - you can see for yourself how he is doing. Check below.

Dear Phil,
I’m happy to hear your feeling better…you gave me quite a scare! I was so worried about you! Seeing you in the Capt’s chair, coughing up blood was nail-biting! You looked like hell. I used to live in Port Orchard WA and I’m sick over the fact I can’t go and meet you this weekend! I’m hoping my dad who is still there will get to see you! I never miss an episode, and I even enjoy watching the re-runs! I recently quit smoking ( 1pk a day ) and pray you can too. I hope with all my heart you can return to the Bering Sea, I know it is your true love!
I’ve never tried crab….it creeps me out. BUT….I would definitely eat it if was caught on the CM….and served by you! That would be awesome! Stay well, so you can return to my fave crabbing boat and crew!

I loved the prop wash story!! When I joined the navy way back when, my first leaving harbour routine I was told to run down to the engine room quickly and get a bucket of steam! I hurried down there with no time to spare as I was honoured to be given this task as a new ordinary seaman! It was only after I looked the Chief Engineer in the eye and said, “My petty officer asked me to come down here and retrieve a bucket of steam chief”. He looked me in the eye and said, “tell him we ran out”. On my way back up I wondered how a ship which runs on steam can run out of…then it hit me! Of course I was also the brunt of another joke about going to get a “sky hook” as well! Being a rookie can be allot fun eh! Rock on Cornelia Marie and God Bless Captain Phil! He is the best crabber out there!

Captain Phil, my family and I are happy to hear you are doing better. We watch the show and have enjoyed the thrill of watching you and your sons and the other Captains and their boats since the start of the Deadliest Catch. You are and have been in our prayers, watching you in that hospital bed broke my heart. God Speed Captain Phil.
July 24th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
Captain Phil, Glad to hear your doing OK. Your crew has always been my favorite and I hope to see you back fishing soon. God Bless and keep on fighting, you have a lot more years to go, you’re still young. Keep up all the good work! -Nick-

God bless you and your crew. May he continue to watch over you all. I’m glad to hear that you are still fighting the good fight. And use your stubborness to beat this thing. Hope to see you next season sitting in the captains chair.
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Phil and family,
I got caught up on all of the episodes the day of the season finally while sitting in a hospital bed myself. When I heard about the blood clot I had to praise and thank God that he pulled you through that, as well as keeping everyone alive through that storm. My prayers are with you and your family as you wait through your recovery. Be extra vigilent on the bike and take care.

Glad to see you are still around Captain Phil. I am glad your sons still have Dad. You are one of the main reasons I watch “Deadliest Catch”
I hope you continue to heal and kick this health problem’s backside.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:34 am
You don’t know me and I don’t know you personally, but after watching you for so long, you have become very special to me. Watching the episode last night where you were coughing up blood and watching your family and friends beg you to seek professional help, I was crying and yelling the same at the tv and praying that you would be okay. Take care of yourself Phil, you mean so much to a lot of people.
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:02 am
Captain Phil I have watched the show for 4 years. I am so glad to know that you are still with us. I think you and your family are Aces! Continue to heal and get back to good health. Hope to see you back as the Captain on the Cornelia Marie for the 2009 season.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Phil
I can really relate to how you feel as I’m going through the exact same thing right now. I was in the hospital back in March here I am 4 months later and I still have a blood clot in my left lung. 4 hours after they did a ct scan I was walking through the hallways to avoid getting a clot when a nurse came up to me and told me to turn around and return to my room and lie down and don’t move I was going to die that night. I felt so alone all I could think about is my wife and 13 year old daughter as they were in Hollywood watching a play and I called and left what I thought was going to be the last thing they heard from me on thier cell phone. The doctors came in and started the blood thinners and lovenox and gave me something help me sleep. When I woke up in the morning I looked around and thought wow I’m still here. The man upstairs was watching over me. I have done the lovenox and now take warfarin. They say I have to take it for 6 months until the clot is absorbed by my body then I hope to have the surgery I should have had back in March. I have had a few doctors shake my hand and tell me I should not be around today. The 1st few months was the worst I was afraid to go to sleep not knowing if I would wake up and see my family again.I’m only 44 and not ready to leave yet. And giving myself injections was terrible but it kept me alive along with all the prayers and support. Sorry for the long read but I have watched all the episodes and when I saw you going through your own hell I told my wife I know exactly how you were feeling. It’s great to see you with gum in your mouth and not a smoke. Phil get better and if your fishing career is over look at it this way you will have your health and most importantly your family. Please update us with your condition. Wishing your family and you nothing but the best.

To Capt Phil & Family
We just wanted to let you know you are all in our prayers. We look forward to seeing you all next season.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
I was so glad to see you last week on After the catch. When you got hurt and ended up in the hosptial I was worried for you and your sons. They both seemed so worried. I know what it is like to have a head strong man around and waiting until the last moment. I am VERY glad to hear you are doing what the doctors say. I hope the meds help and you are back on your boat. Those boys would do fine without you on the cornelia marie but it would be sad without you there too. I hope first and foremost that your health improves and that you can get back to your boat. You have trained your boys well and they will be successful in whatever they chose to do. I love your crew and am always glad when the season is done and you all get to go home to family and friends. I was also glad to hear that you have a nice woman in your life. You deserve that. Yeah, I know I don’t know you personally but like many other fans we have followed you for 4 seasons and look forward to more. Please keep doing what the doctors say and spend as much time with you sons as possible. It will create wonderful memeories for all time. Take care you big lug and may the fishing gods always be on your side.
A big fan of you and your crew.

Im not surprised to hear who you have had issues with as far as the hosting. I have my site through them and had been doing reselling with my web business using them but have decided that going forward we will no longer be using them for similar reasons. I run a gaming website and the minute that the traffic even starts to spike above normal they shut everything down. The bad part is that they dont give you any warning they act first and then tell you about it later. If you are in any need of recommendations as far as who to use please feel free to contact me. In the meantime, the important thing is Phils health. Our family has been praying for him and his boys to get through all this. My favorite capt crew and boat on D.C. Hope to see all return for next season!! God bless!
Again if you need any assistance with web matters please feel free to contact me, even if it is just to make a recommendation as far as different companies that have better overall service than LP.

Dear Capt. Phil,
I am so glad to hear you are doing better!! I am from beverly so im pretty pissed I missed your visit to Gloucester. (just kidding, but seriously… it would have been cool to meet you) Anyway, you’re my favorite captain on Deadliest Catch so I hope you are back in the wheelhouse soon! (and maybe to get there you should think about stopping with the ciggarettes…just as a suggestion….if you haven’t already..) So rest up and build those bird houswes in the off season so that you will have recovered for next season!
Peace

Dear Phil,
It is great to hear you are doing better. I saw you on “After the Catch ll” the other day and I was please to see you doing well. Yes, you coiled the best that day. Just know you have fans in Michigan. You, Sig and the rest of the guys really show the world what real harding working families are like. Even though your trade is different then most, your fundmental way of being good decent fathers, friends and all around good guys are perfect role models for all. I’m a married African America woman with two kids in college and I love watching the show. I love my husband deeply, but I think you, Sig and Norman are the sexiest white boys. Josh should thank you every day for your genes.
Stay well and keep fishing.

July 20th, 2008 at 11:50 am
I cannot do my job with out hard working salts such as your (psycotic) selves. It reminds me of my paratrooper days abiet filled with less water. Stay safe and know I support the working man.

YOU HAVE FANS IN MARYLAND PHIL….Besides Mike Rowe hahaha

Phil,Josh, and Jake,
As they said on the talk portion of your show held in Gloucester - “You gave us quite a scare !” Your a very fortunate man Phil ! Not only due to your almost miraculous recovery from a very dangerous condition, you also have two young men and a friend and crew that would storm hell for their captain if they thought it would do what needed to be done ! According to what I see on the other boats and in life your a very lucky man to have that type crew and sons behind you !! I was touched by Josh’s immediate reaction to something going on with his Dad, very impressed as was Jake’s reaction. Again, your a lucky man to have two such fine sons.
Needless to say I was glad to hear that you did well after the incident and are of course doing well now (since we have heard nothing to the contrary). I’ve been where you were and it’s not fun nor are the raft load of medications they put you on until they feel your doing well enough to survive without them. Not much fun taking medications that should someone so much as poke you with a finger, leaves a nice looking bruise,(Plavix or any of a million other blood thinners).
Hope most of that is over for you by now and perhaps life is getting back to as normal as it’s going to get for awhile. Ride that Harley, as the wind in your face and hair is the best tonic I can think of for most anything that ails you. WALK, a little more than you would normally as that helps make sure no clots are forming (and allows you to throw those %$@& hose out the window !!). We hope to see you back where you belong,(on the show and boat calling all the shots) should that be in the cards ! Or at the very least should this mean retirement for you (lets hope not but let it be your decision and not a forced thing if that’s to be the case)
In this day and age of reality shows did you ever think for a minute you’d be a celebrity on a major network show running a “fishing vessel” ? Well, the cards were and are in your favor on that account and you’ve developed a huge following ! I’ll be looking forward to seeing you back on the show and will also do a run in your honor sometime this winter while your out freezing your $%@&* off looking for crab (Arizona is Harley season year round)
Good Luck and Best Wishes to You and Yours
Mark

Did not know about the website for the Cornelia-Marie, or that Capt. Phil has a new lady friend until today. Love the show!
Not suprised about the new romance — Phil — very sexy!! Why do you think I watch it?!
July 17th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Phil, I have been watching the show faithfully every season and have a new respect now every time I see a crab. The past few weeks have been very difficult to watch, with the decline in your health. You gave me one very big scare, and you taught me a valuable lesson about slowing down and taking care of my body. I have an 11 year old son who is my life and I can’t imagine him not having me around. Please listen to the Dr. If you had any doubts before you can put them to rest that your boys are dedicated and prepared. God Bless and get well soon.

Best wishes. I’m 30 years old and have been on Coumadin since 13. It’s not the end of the world, but a major pain in the ass. I have a disorder that makes me prone to blood clots (antiphospholipd syndrome) so know what you are going through. Best wishes and hope you can return for next season.
July 16th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Hi Phil I would like to meet you too. I live in Las Vegas and you are welcome back anytime!
July 16th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Captain Phil reminds me so much of my own dad that my heart lurched when I saw the initial episodes. I pray for his full recovery and want his sons to know that they are two of the best kids I’ve ever met. My hearts goes out with you all.
July 16th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
I am so pleased to hear Capt. Phil is doing well. I know it must be a rough time for him and his entire family, and I wish you all the best. I’m sure you had to quit smoking too, and as a recently quitter myself (per drs. orders), i know how hard it is even when you know its necessary. Good luck to you all, and hang in there Phil. You are loved and admired by many.

I was so happy when I saw you last night. The looks on your boys faces broke my heart they were so frightened at the thought of not having you around. I come from a medical backround, do as your Drs. say. Your not smoking on the show I hope thats all the time. Being on blood thinners is not the end of the world, in fact its making your world continue. You must be careful like you are at the helm. To your sons, stop smoking now when I was your age my Mom was one of the first women to have openheart surgery. She stopped smoking. Me like as ass continued and she picked up again years later she died of lung cancer. She was my best friend and I have to live with that everyday of my life. My son who is your age doesn’t smoke and I am so grateful for that, its he and I against the world. So the three of you stay strong and your Angels have your backs.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
I’m so glad to hear that Capt. Phil is okay. He is my favorite captain on the show. I love his personality and there’s something very familiar about him and his boys. Wishing you the best in health. We love you Phil!
July 16th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Hi guys. I love the show and Phil is definitely my fav. Hell the whole crew is cool. Phil you look a lot better on the after show airing lastnight. I will say my prayers for you and your family. Way to go a new lady friend. God wouldn’t let you get a new chic and then just drop you down. It will all work out. I just can feel it. Take care.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
Hey Phill, me and my wife been watching the show since day one,and its like watching family, that we never met,my dad was the same way,but the most important thing to do is do what the doc.says, keep the meds going an don’t stop cause u feel better, that’s what dad did,an now all I have is memories, just keep on living on,you got two great sons there,an they do love there dad,and we all know working for family is the hardest thing u ever have to do,,lol

captian harris
i hope all goes well with your health. my prayers are with you and your boys. i’ve watched the show since the first season admiring the work that you do and ever since have not complained about the price of crab legs. my wife cannot watch the show because it makes her seasick but she always wants me to give her updates about how you are doing. although i have never you, it almost feels like you are a part of my family. for your sake and that of your boys i hope you a speedy recovery and even if you can’t man the ship anymore that’s ok. as far as the show is concerned they can spend 3-5 minutes with you each week if nothing else to be, maybe, like a color commentator. the show would never be the same without you.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:52 am
Phil-
Hang in there and concentrate on your health. You can beat this! You have an incredible support system behind you. Good luck with your health and with your new lady friend!
July 16th, 2008 at 12:10 am
Captain Phil,
You’ve been my favorite of the Captains since the show began! Keep your chin up! You’ve got a few more years of “fight” left in you I think! Make ‘em count!
You truly are an inspiration to us all as to how to lead our children into adulthood. I have three boys that are looking to follow in their mom’s footsteps of a chef! Not nearly as dangerous as your occupation, but still something that I find fascinating for my children to aspire to in an MTV generation of conspicuous consumption.
You’ve obviously raised your sons well and with a work ethic that isn’t seen very often any more.
I was glad to hear that you have found someone that you have that is special to you!
Truly, we are all keeping you in our prayers!
Very truly yours,
Heidi

Capt Phil,
My prayers are with you daily for a complete recovery. I believe, as others, that the wave was an angel sent to save you. You questioned whether or not your boys know everything they need to know, just look in their eyes, YOU HAVE DONE WELL. As you can see by the overwhelming response, you have touched many lives. Fishing has been everything, but I believe that you now reach people in a different way. We see you as incredibly strong, full of passion, completely dedicated to your boys and your crew, and a wonderful example of a strong man filled with love for his family and his work. You’ve shown everyone what really counts in life… How you live, How you love and who you’ve passed it on to. Your example and life will stay with me forever. God Bless you and all on the Cornelia Marie.
July 15th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Damned glad you’re still hanging in there, Captain Phil. You have so many supporters and great fans who are pulling for you 100% and sending you strength, energy and love. I’m just one of the millions sending you all the positive energy I can muster up. stay strong, Captain. We don’t want to lose you. But if you lose your smokes, we’d all be dancing nude in the streets!
July 15th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
You’re in my prayers. I am 34 and live in Indiana. I had a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombsis) 16 years ago in my left groin, since then, I have had about 8 Blood clots. If Phil and his mother both have had clots, then he should have genetic testing done. My mother and my 2 sisters have also had clots but not as bad as mine and I just had my son and daughter tested at Riley Hospital and found out that they have it also. Their doctor at Riley told me that 1 in 5 caucasians have a clotting disorder but it is usually your lifestyle that triggers clots, for example injury that causes bedrest, overweight, smoking, having children, etc. Mine have caused so much scar tissue that I started developing venous statius ulcers on my left ankle. I had been to every hospital network in Indiana when I found my present Vascular Surgeon. I had an Iliac Femoral Bypass that failed because i clotted it off and then I had an Iliac Femoral Crossover Bypass and it too clotted off. I will be on Coumadin (blood thinner) for the rest of my life. I can only hope that there is more research done on blood clotting disorders so that medical science can catch up. Sitting for long periods of time also can cause clots. Please do alot of research before going back on the boat because once you’ve had a clot, you are more apt to have a second. My thoughts and Prayers are with you.

Captain Phil!
America is rooting for you and your health! I am also so glad to know there are many more of us Deadliest Catch cult members out there! Rock on and stay healthy!!
July 15th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Phil has got to be one of the toughest SOB’s I’ve ever seen! Good work ethics are hard to find these days, and it’s pleasant for someone like me, who has worked hard all his life, to see the same kind of energy devoted to building a future. Too many young people want it fast and easy, but don’t want to put in the time or effort to get it. You don’t complain and moan, you do exactly what you signed up to do and get paid for it. For Phil to sit in that wheelhouse with blood clots and still be going is an inspiration to all the youngsters out there sitting on their behinds and not accomplishing anything but wasteing time. You keep at it , Phil!
July 14th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
I just saw the preview for the upcoming show tomorrow night and I must say, I probably don’t have enough Kleenex to get me through it. Captain, you and your family are in my prayers. You are such an inspiration to many families who also have a “family company.” It just shows no matter how tough the situation, families can always pull together and get through any situation presented to them. We’re pulling for you!
July 12th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Glad to hear that you are doin’ ok Phil. We’ll keep praying for you and watching the show. Take care!
July 12th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Phil,
My best wishes to you man. I watch the show quite a lot and really admire you in particular for being both a tough old salt and a very caring dad - I only hope someday I’m able to be so well balanced. The world needs people like you in it, so take better care of yourself dammit.
To the crew and filmakers, keep up the great work!!!
I’m heading out to dinner and I’m having CRAB!

To Capt. Phil….. I am so glad that you are doing better. I was on the phone with my family who also watches this show right after you went to the dr. in St. Paul. I couldn’t believe it. I hope that you listen to Josh and take care of your health. It is so obvious that you love your boys and they love you and so does your crew. You have a lot of good people surrounding you. I just wanted to tell you that I am pulling for you to get 100% and for the safety of your sons and crew while you are off the boat. Take care and God Bless.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
I’m so happy your ok,you are a strong man with still much to do in this world. We are just getting to know you and He is not ready for you yet so he had your Angel step it up a notch. Your blessed as are we for still having you. Your a great dad. Take care of yourself,PLEASE!!!!!! You and yours are in my prayers always.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
My mom was in the hospital having an angioplasty test done. After the test, they let her rest a while. About an hour later, they said ok to leave. She stood up, had the most horrible look in her face and dropped to the floor dead. Blood clots to the lungs, same as Phil. The fact he survived it shows how tough the man is. Good luck Phil and crew. Between your crew, Sig’s guys and the Time Bandit boys, ya’ll are the heart and the soul of the series.
July 9th, 2008 at 10:50 am
To Capt. Phil and crew- Thanks for letting us in to your every day lives. It is amazing how you manage to complete your daunting runs and all the while demonstrate grace under pressure. You guys are an inspiration to all 9 to 5 ers!!! Well wishes for you Capt. Phil - take care and get well soon!

July 8th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
God was truly watching over you and for your sons (it is obvious how much they love their dad and they are great guys)!!!! Look at the blessings you are getting through this and I can only imagine that years ago you wouldn’t think you would be doing your job on national tv. I love Deadliest Catch! Here in central PA we don’t do crab fishing locally!
The show is AWESOME and all you guys rock. Praying for your total healing and strength to come back!
July 8th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
That wave was a God-send! Your Moms was watching over you. Those boys of yours need you around awhile longer. Even if only to remind them of why lions eat their young. Lost both my folks to cancer and know the felling of not being able to help. Godspeed. When you ready to fish with a pole come to the east coast and we’ll go for whatever you please.

July 5th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Captain Phil,
You had an angel watching over you, that wave may have just saved your life! I smoke too so I understand the grief you are taking for smoking and also understand how very hard it is to quit. I have known people that stop cold turkey and never look back, those are few and far between. Most people stop, start, stop, start … and can only truly quit when they are ready to do so. Nicotine addiction is very hard to overcome and those that do not partake do not understand and have no right to judge or berate anyone with that addiction. Whatever you choose to do, I respect that decision and look forward to your return to the Cornelia Marie.
Peace

Dear Captain Phil,
I am glad to hear you are doing ok. AsI watched the episode where you got hurt I was both scared for you and very angry with you. While I understood why you asked your relief captian not to say anything to your boys I felt you put him in a really bad situation. I am glad he broke his promise and told Josh and Jake. I believe, from what I saw on the show your boys, your crew and the others out their fishing with you, would all agree that you should always put your health first. I know as a HUGE Fan I would ask that you not be macho. Your taxes pay for the Coast Guard. Do not be afraid to use them if needed!!!!!
Having said this I can say I am sooo glad to hear that you are doing better. I am praying that your health keeps improving and we see you back in the wheelhouse soon.
Sincerely,
Sarah Hobbs

Words of wisdom from the late George Carlin for anyone who has had a life altering experience (well, anyone really). Good things to remember:
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years.
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.
Remember, to say, ‘I love you’ to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably….
And NEVER regret anything that made you smile
Live well friends.
July 2nd, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Capt. Phil,
Really glad to hear you’re doing better. If you need some R&R while you heal, come on down here to Fort Lauderdale and I’ll take you out for some of my kind of fishing. It mostly involves drifting around, drowning bait while we fish in the ice chest, but you look like the kind of guy who could appreciate that!
Take care of yourself.
July 2nd, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Great news today when I went to this webb site. After watching the show last night I was happy to see you in Anchorage and now I see by the webb site your doing well Captain Phil. You and your sons make the show along with all of the other Captain’s. Greatest show I’ve seen in a long time. Always interesting and full of facts and information. Hope you take care of your self Captain Phil and get back to fishing.
July 2nd, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Hi Phil,
I am so glad that you are feeling much better. Your sons seem to have everything under control. My heart goes out to your boys. They say that kids are the apple of a parents eye but you are the apple in their eye. Every person who watches Deadliest Catch really see what goes behind catching crab and it’s tough. God Bless and hope you recover and you get back on the skipper’s chair and you do what you do best! Fish! With love!

Hello Capt. Phil,
You gave us a scare last night!! Thank god you are ok, and that you can spend time with your Sons!
BTW my Wife says that the CM has the nicest crew - How they treated the greenhorn during your absence. (Visit to Anchorage)
Quick favor when you see Dave next season / Favor?
Back in the late 80’s, I went to high school in Kodiak; can you get a message to Dave M?
Dave its Sanders - Your long lost friend - Living in San Jose w/two kids & married 10 years?!
Hope to “catch” up with you sometime in the future!
Good luck w/your family as well!
Best Wishes to the Cornelia Marie Gang!

Hey Phil, would you please not scare the hell out of us like that again . Like you i am 51 and have my own health problems. Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. You need to do what the doctors tell you to do if you want to survive this. you probably listen as well as i do. I have enjoyed the show since day one and have the first 3 seasons on dvd. Stay well my friend amd do what you are told. Brother Dave

July 2nd, 2008 at 1:28 am
Capt. Phil
Answered request for ideas for the store. Hope whoever was supposed to got the message. This whole means of communication really is tedious for me - trrying to find the right sites to visit, etc. Not a “Chatty Kathy.” Enjoy watching “After the Catch and will keep up with the show to see how the seasons go.. Not going to be available by e-mail any longer. Impressed with your bird feeder building. Good thing. Be fun to see one. You could probably do a fine little cottage industry with them and make them for your store - slap a logo on them and away you go. I make quilts for kids and lap throws for being cozy watching TV in winter. Most usually for special occasions and gifts for special people. Alot of me goes into them with a lot of agape. Glad to see how much healthier you look on After the Catch. Since I live close by, going to watch Seafare parade and catch Sig. Enough “jawing”
Keep up the good work.
July 2nd, 2008 at 12:33 am
I only watch the show because of the Cornelia Marie, Captain Phil is great and I am glad he is doing ok. Best wishes Phil, I love your boy Josh, yummy!
July 1st, 2008 at 11:37 pm
capt. phil take care of yourself. my mom died of clots on her lungs-misdiagnosed as pneumonia-so that’s what could happen to anyone. you need to be there for your boys. they need you.
July 1st, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Phil,
On the odd chance that anyone from the CM ever reads theses please give Cappy Phil best wishes from Dana Point, Ca.! Mr. Harris reminds me so much of my hubby! I’m 39, he’s 52! Since I didn’t see any mention in Phil’s BIO of a partner………LADIES!! If you’re in the area…….Just want to let you know there is something so yummy about a strong, salty, sweet, kind, man who cusses “like a sailor”, holds you like you’re precious and smiles at his kids with so much unconditional love you don’t know whether to laugh or cry! The kind of man who tells you what he thinks—but thinks before he says it! Also, Phil——I won’t forget to mention the extra effort a man may make when their partner is just “ahem”"ummmmm”a bit younger. Trust Me! I’ve been watching …….. BEST wishes for good health and happiness! Lisa B.
July 1st, 2008 at 10:49 pm
dear phil, the wife and i love your show and was scared for you. we are relieved you are doing ok. keep up on your health man. our best to you and the rest of the crew. terry and brandy
July 1st, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Capt. Phil,
Your courage and strength was and is amazing to watch. To share all of your pain with us is incredable. I felt the pain for your boys.
I was not able to be with my Dad when he experienced his rough time at sea. Hope you can feel the love from all your fans.
Wish I could have a beer and a cig with the crew. I think you need to replace your Captain’s chair with a muscle magic chair so
that you can get a massage head to toe while you sit at the helm. I am stressed out just watching the boat rock. You and the
crew of the Cornelia Maria! We are having crab this holiday and toasting all you brave men & women who bring the bounty..and
I won’t even bitch about the price. B

Dear Captain Plil+Crew,I think there`s no turning back now!!Just by checking this site,I see just how larger then life you and your teem mates have become. The world has fallen head over heels for all of the fishermen(+woman) because of the show.I hope the discovery channel is compinsating you and the other Captains+crew for some of the impositions you`ve incountered!!!(with cash I hope)HA!HA! I how tough it is to have someone up your rearend all day and all you want to do is get on with your work with the least amount of wrinkels as possible.I`m a factory worker in a food prossing plant for over 28 years.I started at the tender age of 19.I`m sure there are alot of hard working people doing the daily grind watch you for the same reason I do,and that is because your keepin it real!!! Your all alot of fine lookin dudes. Good Luck + God Bless
July 1st, 2008 at 9:24 pm
I’m so glad you’re okay! I’ve been terrified since the beginning of the season thanks to the clips they’ve showing. I think I held my breath through half of last week’s episode so seeing you on this week’s episode was an enormous relief. I have to say your boys are lucky to have a dad like you who loves them so much. Deadliest Catch wouldn’t be the same without you!
July 1st, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Captain Phil,
I’m so glad to see that you are doing well. I TIVO’d the last 2 episodes and didn’t watch til tonight. I was almost in tears watching. I’ll be praying for your continued recovery.
July 1st, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Its good to hear that Captain Phil is doing ok! I was so worried at the end of last weeks episode i almost cried. My Dad gave a toast to Capitan Phil last week, and said more power to him for smoking through the whole thing(My Dad broke his ribs a while back, now hes got drifting ribs.) We both downed some Black Butte, and smoked a cigarette for him!
And finally, to Captain Phil, keep up on your health, your my hero! I was just a Sophomore in High school when the show started, and I’d get into arguments with my buddys from the Motorcycle shop, about which ship was the best ship, and I always fought for yours. And thanks for just being the most kick ass Captain on the Bering Sea!
Thanks for reading this,
Samantha
P.S. If your ever stuck in Eugene Oregon, stop by Cyclephycho, we recycle bike parts. Come say hi to me and my Dad! It might get him up out of the depressing mood hes been in!
July 1st, 2008 at 7:53 pm
OMG - Phil!! I love you - couldn’t believe you were hurt that badly. When I first heard about your health problems this season I cheated and read ahead on the internet to find out what happened and how you are now. So glad you made it through. Take care of yourself and stop by in California.

July 1st, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Phil,
Just finished tonights episode (07/01/08). Glad to see (and hear) that you are going to be fine. Back in 2004, after an acl repair (injured in iraq ‘03) of my right knee, i also suffered a pulmonary embolism (PE) such as yourself. I had a seizure (from the PE) and my muscles in my right hip and right shoulder tightened up so much, that it broke my right hip and my right shoulder, i bit my tongue completely in two also, all while my frightened 4yr old daughter (4 at the time) witnessed it all. I had what was called a saddle emboli, eight of them, that broke loose from my lower right calf from a dvt (deep vein thrombosis), which traveled to my heart and my right lung, and i can slightly remember being in the ER with my wife and being told that I may not survive through the night, very scary stuff indeed, it’ll wake you up and make life worth living.
i have had 1 additional knee surgery, 3 hip surgeries and two shoulder surgeries since (and because) of my PE, so i understand how you feel. I won’t go into every detail and bore the hell out of you, but i want to just say ‘i understand’. i hope you continue to heal and wish you the best, and the best to your family and the rest of the crew on the CM.
god bless and you have one fan (out of many) that understands just what you went through!
July 1st, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Capt!
Everyone here in Texas is rooting for you and praying for good health to come your way! My girl friends are all huge fans and we have you in our thoughts! I cried! Can you believe it!? We were so worried!
Tell your sons to stop raising your blood pressure, lay off the redbull and honey–get a massage!
July 1st, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Dear Phil, I am so happy you are going to be ok. I’ve been a medical assistant for 18 years and have seen miracles thousands of times. I also believe in Angel’s, you my friend have one !! I give Angel’s to my peep’s Patients . I wish I knew where to send you and your boys one. I have a 24 year old boy and I often wonder what if… I have a tattoo of an Angel on my left shoulder, I know we all have one and keep it real. Much respect for you and yours , God blessed you. Your fan in Florida Paula
July 1st, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Hey Phil,
I’ve been watching the show from day one, and my wife and I love it. She watched a marathon day of shows once and it surprised me - she loved it. Anyway, take care and hang in there man. I have a good freind and an ex-brother in law who both spent time on the crab. So, you have our respect and best wishes, and it is nice to see your sons care for you. You will be fine, and life is a set of hard knocks that we learn from.
Jim in Seattle

July 1st, 2008 at 5:06 pm
SOOOOO glad Phil is ok! I worry about him constantly!
July 1st, 2008 at 4:31 pm
I was sooo worried about you Phil when the episode aired when you got hurt. I wanted to see you actually falling out of the bunk, but that would be embarrassing. For you.
Then when the doctor said it wasn’t broken…not thrilling news. So, I had to go on your site and it was down. Server problems? That’s always annoying. I figured your server was over loaded, but you got dropped? Man, you guys must’ve been freakin PACKED.
And your picture gallery still isn’t working right, not for me, and I wanted to look at pictures of Jake. Is it just me or did you guys get rid of all your pictures on here?
July 1st, 2008 at 3:41 pm
So glad your doing better Phil!! I’ve been watching since season one and love the show. You are the best captain out there and you couldnt pry me from the TV on Tuesday nights…or any other time DC is on for that matter. Hang in there Phil, take care of yourself and you and the boys are in my prayers.
Love Ya!
July 1st, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Glad Phil is doing better. My dad had the same thing and was on blood thinners for some time. The CM is my favorite crab boat on Deadliest Catch. My family actually gets together on Tuesday nights to see the new episodes, and you couldn’t blast us off the sofas when it’s on with dynamite. If I weren’t 40 years old, I’d be out there to give it a try, but I’ll have to settle for the XBOX 360 game. Keep feeling better Phil, and stick a crowbar in your wallet and get some new engines! That way you won’t vapor lock one of these days in the wheelhouse.
Love you, buddy!
July 1st, 2008 at 11:39 am
Glad to hear he is doing ok.
Time to take better care of yourself Captain you big dummy.
July 1st, 2008 at 8:34 am
So happy that you are doing well. I got a chuckle that one of the places you will appear in Oregon is an Irish Pub! Well, where else would you be!?
June 30th, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Phil, you rock, but you scared us man!!! Glad you are OK, always enjoy your banter with your sons, had to laugh out loud when I saw you guys in People Magazine, I bet that was one weird day, huh? Did you ever think you’d be doing a photo shoot in an entertainment mag? I think it’s great that you guys are doing so well, you deserve it after all the hard work you put in. You have lots of fans down here in Louisiana! Keep safe, and try to take care of your health!!!!
June 30th, 2008 at 11:31 am

June 29th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Phil I’m so happy to hear that you’re doing better. DC wouldn’t be the same without you. You’re in my prayers every night. I watch DC faithfully and enjoy every episode. You’re my favorite Capt. and I admire your dedication and love for your boat and crew, but you need to put your health first and get better so you can continue to be the top dog on DC.
Take care and be safe
Penni
P.S. Any chances of you coming to CT?
June 29th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
People cannot live on Redbull, cigarettes, and sausage sandwiches with mayo. I’m glad you’re feeling better, but for the sake of your kids, you really need to take a hard look at how you live the rest of your life, and whether that will be long or short.
June 29th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Hey Captian Phil,
I’ve been looking for a half a day trying to find out bout your health. So glad your doing better. I would like to say something about your smoking but I won’t. Either you’ll quit or you won’t. I wish my dad would have quit but he didn’t. I lost him when I 20 yrs. old. Your kids need you around to eat their ass’s out every now and then. I’m just an old Texas guy that bummed up in the oil field. Wound up being a quadraplegia. (spinal cord injury). I know a little about danger. Good Luck, And KICK THEIR ASS!!

June 28th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
So glad you are doing better, Captain Phil. The good Lord was looking over you, your crew and boat. Get well. We are all eager to see you back in the Captain’s Chair on the Cornelia Maria.

June 28th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
So glad to hear Phil is doing better. Watching the show last Tuesday took me back 8 years to my own father, unfortunately no medication could save him. Thank God that you got medical attention!!! Stay safe and hope to see you in Florida soon!!!
June 28th, 2008 at 8:37 am
OMG I sure wish we were in Oregon right about now. Glad to hear that Phil is doing better.
Any chance he will be traveling to Oklahoma? Or any chance you might put up a calendar of events to show where he’ll be in the next month…… So those of us who live away might have the chance to make plans to travel to see him???? Thanks again for keeping us updated on Phil. Heres to hoping for a healthy Phil. (((Hugs)))

Go for it.

June 27th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Phil,
I have watched the show since it’s inception. I love all you guys and feel like you are part of my family. I pray for all the crab fisherman and their families for their safe return. When I saw how sick you are I became very distressed because you remind me of my dad and he like you was very stubborn; unfortunately we were too late to help him. Your family, friends and fans all care deeply for you and you mean more then anything to them . Please take care of yourself and put your health first. Your sons need you to be their dad and one day a grandfather. Keep fishing and I’ll keep watching!!!!
P.S. Will you be making a stop in Jersey or anywhere close?
Shelly
