How devastating! I am so saddened to learn that good and hard working individuals were victims of such a tragedy.
My hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to the families, friends, and colleagues of those lost and injured.

I said Mass for the crew of the f/v Alaska Ranger the day we heard she floundered.

The crew of the Cornelia Marie and all the men and women on the Bering Sea who do the incredible work you all do are regularly remembered by me and my parish in our prayers and Masses.

In the big picture, the crab and fish are cheap…lives are not.

I agree, something swift and devastating must have occured for a vessel of that size to be lost so quickly. Four lives lost from 40+ souls that went into the icy Dutch Harbor waters…good odds, but not good enough for those grieving.

“Those that go down to the Sea in ships, that do business in great waters, these see the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep.”
