Hello, from Cornelia Marie
Hi, I am Cornelia. The boat was built in 1989 and it was named after me. I have been in the business a long time. I appreciate everyone’s comments concerning the “Deadliest Catch” and I am glad you’re enjoying watching the program. Please stay tuned into this site, as we will have more information concerning merchandise to sell. The boat is through fishing crab and is currently heading to Dutch Harbor, Alaska. We are getting ready to go herring tendering at Togiak which is in Bristol Bay, Alaska.
Thanks,
Cornelia Marie

Carrie if you think the show’s so gay then why are you on one of its sites? You took the time to log in and, and blog about it. Listen to your own advice and get a life. Speaking of life, why does something like this trivial sh!t bother you so much? We’re all gonna die anyway someday, and none of this will matter. And our hair and nails will keep growing in our graves lol that’s really cool.
August 19th, 2008 at 1:33 am
Hello, I have to say I stumbled on this site by mistake but now that Im here I guess I’ll say something. Are you people really that crazy, being into the most gay show on TV today? Give me a break, Please….. OMG you guys are blogging about it…LOL Get some lives, People…!!!!!

I Hope Phil will be able to comeback, but if he can’t he has great kids, that realy seem to appreciate and understand the concept of hard work and dilagance, anyway just wanted to see if you guys saw your boat on “Alaska dangerous territory” on the history chanel
July 29th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I am soooooo happy to hear that Capt. Phil is doing much better. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and crew. I fell in love with Phil and his crew the first season. This show brings back many memories for me, when I was fourteen I spent time on my uncles crab boat tendering salmon in Bristol Bay. I am now 39 years old and I will never forget the time spent in Alaska, wow what an experience. My uncle Lloyd, was in part responsible for my work ethic which I attribute to my time spent on his boat. I appreciate all the trials and tribulations that you go through during each season, hopefully with a great payoff. I love watching your boat and crew and Phil, you are a tough guy. Continue to improve and get well so you can return “health” next season. Tell me the secret, why isn’t there more bleeped out words on the show? When I spent time on the boat my language consisted on four letter words????
July 26th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
SO happy to learn that Capt. Phil is doing fine. I got ‘hooked’ on Deadliest Catch - the best show on TV - and have watched faithfully since the beginning. Feel as though Capt. Phil and his crew are part of the family! Love and prayers! Ellie
July 23rd, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Um, Phil is alive and doing pretty well! Bonnie posted a recent statement (7/17/08) from Phil on the Discovery Channel Deadliest Catch message board titled “Statement from Capt Phil”. Also, just yesterday she cleared up this awful rumor but the thread was deleted as people were getting upset over it and asked that it be taken down.
July 22nd, 2008 at 3:15 pm
I forgot to say that josh is sooo cute. I wish you would look into an ear tack tho. OMG you be even more sexy!!!
July 22nd, 2008 at 3:13 pm
I also heard that phil passed away and there going to play the rest of the season before its let out to the public. Could some please let me know the truth or an up to date website with pictures of him or a video. I was so hurt over this.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:31 am
OMG! NOOOOOOOO! Just for the record, Captain Phil has NOT passed away… On the contrary, he is alive and kicking! His health may not be 100%, but he hasn’t jumped into the grave yet. If you have the time look on my Myspace and see pics I took this past Sunday. You may see some STUDMUFFINS in them that you recognize…
Captain Phil, may you live a LONG, HAPPY, and HEALTHY life; we luv ya!
Helen (in Seattle)
July 21st, 2008 at 4:51 pm
I am so shocked and sorry that Phil has passed away! My husband and I have enjoyed watching Phil and his crew. Phil was a wonderful guy. May God be with his son’s and all those who loved him!
July 19th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Hi Phil,
You are in my families prayers that you will continue to get better. We love the show and your boat is one of our very favorites. Follow the doc’s orders and spend a little time taking good care of yourself. I am going to go to your online store and see if I can purchase one of your birdhouses. If not please put them on the store so we can purchase. God’s speed on your recovery.
July 18th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
We meet each Tuesday night to watch you and the rest of the Deadliest Catch team. We pray for your speedy recovery. I guess ‘no news is good news’. We hope that you are back on your boat catching crabs and comical grief from your kids and crew soon. Your friends/family in Annapolis, Md. Kim and Sue
July 18th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
Crud - now I really feel stupid using the wrong name! I meant Phil!!!
July 18th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
This is the first time I’ve done this - so I’m not sure if it’s right or not! Anyway - Good Luck Jonathan! I quit smoking on the 23rd of April. I used Chantix. It’s still tough at times, but I’m sticking to it - I hope you do too! I love the show, and I’ve watched it since the beginning. One thing that is odd - I watch Ice Road Truckers also, and this season one of their veterans has also gotten a blood clot in his lung. It’s also touch and go for him. I wish you all the luck and I hate that the show is ending so soon!
July 17th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Hi Phil
I hope you continue to improve and are back out there fishing soon. We love you. I noticed you are not smoking anymore in After the Catch. I hope you have quit. I just quit after 49 years of smoking. We hate that the show is coming to an end for this season, it goes back so fast for us. We love watching you all do what you do best. Best wishes to you and the crew

Hi Phil,
I don’t have a myspace page, but I did want to wish you THE best! My husband and I are praying for your recovery, and that the last 2 months pass quickly for you. You are SUCH a light, a wonderful REAL person, and we are standing by you! We EXPECT to hear wonderful things over the next couple of months about your health. You continue to DO what the doc’s order you to do, so then you can be healthy and do what PHIL wants ( within reason!)! There is a pecking order don’t cha know! Please take care, and DO know that there IS life after divorce. I SWORE I’d NEVER get married again, and then I found my best friend ~ and check THIS OUT! For 3 years we were friends, he was interested in me (I thought of him as just a friend!) and I kept telling him he just WASN’T my type!
Closer to the end of 3 years, I ASKED HIM “So when are we getting married?” LOL! SEE DUDE? Chicks ARE flakey! Just keep that handsome face up, you WILL be fine ~ we have faith!

Love Ya Phil, keep that handsome chin up!

Get well soon, Hope to see you back bantering with your sons. You have a very good crew who think a lot of you and I like that. Enjoy the show very much.
Take care and Get Well.
July 15th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Phil, I hope you are doing well. I have always enjoyed watching the show, but as a nurse I became interested in following your progress with your pulmonary embolism. I have seen many people do quite well after suffering from them, but I have also seen people die from them. Make sure you follow doctor’s orders, take your blood thinner meds as directed, and get well soon. You and your family are in my prayers.

Hey Phil,
Hope you are feeling better. My husband and I watch Deadliest Catch faithfully. My husband works offshor in the Gulf of Mexico and I record every show for him for when he comes in for 7 days. It looks like your sons are growing up fast. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

Hey is it possible for someone to buy a boat like yours and come to Alaska to catch crab? Would you have to buy up other ships quotas? Do ships from Russia fish there also and are they regulated like the USA ships? Get off the smokes Phil. I quit after 20 years of smoking, it is only tuff for the first couple weeks. so make sure they are stress free weeks. Good luck and remember me in your will
July 8th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Captain Phil, although we have never met, I feel as if I know you. I am dedicated to 2 television shows, CSI (the original) and Deadliest Catch (the other original). My heart breaks when I see your boys and crew, how dedicated they are to you - kick ass and take names. Well wishes to you ‘ol Salty Dog.

Best wishes to you Phil. Hang tough, you are the best.

I love the Cornelia Marie! The Harris boys are great! Dealiest Catch is my favorite tv show. I try and watch it whenever it’s on. Phil is great, he’s very funny and i love how he interacts with his sons.
July 5th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
Hi Phil,
Been watching the show since day one and enjoy every moment. Sorry to see your health problems, stay well. My father built a cabin cruiser from scratch when I was 5. We laid out the keel and chines on the living room floor.
Watching the show brings back memories of back in the day, when we used to go out of San Pedro. I’ve never seen anything like you do on the Bearing Sea, but 13 footers in a 17 footer makes it all relative.
Again stay well, and we want to see you out there for many more seasons.
July 2nd, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Stay well Phil!!!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

Hi guys!
We only discovered the show this past season. My husband being an old sailor loves it and I love it because I’m married to an old sailor:-)
I hope all continues to go well with Captain Phil’s recovery and I have to say according to his statement about the ratings had he died, I have to say, you would have lost one viewer. We are very glad you are still there and going!
June 27th, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Sorry to see about your health problems. Take care of yourself, hope your are able to stay on the boat being taken away from your livelihood would be very hard. I love the show and have been watching since the first season. Keep up the good work and as always be safe.

Take care of yourself and do healthy things for your body and spirit. Your kids are the bomb - you grandkids will be awesome! I live vicariously though you so do your kids proud……….
June 26th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Phil your a great man. I can tell this by the way your sons have turned out.I wish you well and hope everything turns out in your favor.I admire your strength but listen to your sons right away next time. Trust their decision making when they offer you advice to take care of yourself.
By the way I hearby offer to be the one legged man in the ass kicking contest while you recuperate. God Bless

Hey Skipper,
Here’s a new quote for you to Jake, “You’re not a man ’til you’ve fished 60 hours with a pulmonary embolism!”
June 25th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Phil..A story for you…Back in 1985, my dad was driving thru Montana at 3Am (on his way to Seattle). A blood clot in his leg, let loose. It went thru his heart and ended up in his left lung. Heart attack at 70mph, in the dark, 150 miles from nowhere, alone, with 1 working lung. He found a hospital and called me the next day. Just to say he was OK. Gotta love diehard dads!
June 25th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
We watched this weeks episode and my husband and I are both worried about Captain Phil. What happened??!! Whatever it is, I hope very much that you will be OK. I do with, however, that you would stop smoking!! My dad died of lung cancer a little over a year ago and he had smoked since he was about 9 years old. I had to watch his slowly die and it was a horrible horrible thing to die from. Please, please, please stop smoking. God bless and take care!!
June 25th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Hey Phil, my name is Rebecca and I watch Deadliest Catch faithfully! Everytime I watch your show I tell my boyfriend I could be the cook if anyone would have me:) LOL! I was watching last night and was wondering how you are feeling? My prayers and blessings go out to you. I just hope everything can be fixed (health wise). I know your a fisherman that you have been in the business for several years, I just don’t understand how you could still smoke after coughing up so much blood. I am unsure what is your diagnosis but smoking isn’t going to make it go away! I’m sure you have heard this from everyone else but its that we are all brothers and sisters in Gods eyes and I would love to see you live a long time and put this health condition you have now in the past. Besides that I love your show. Your boat rocks!!!! Take care and God Bless all of you guys who fish!

But how many lines are being blown to keep them that wired at 4 in the morning?

People wonder why men do this? How can anybody deal with the extreme risk day in and day out? What ties the crew together? What are they really like? There is a book called IN THE COMPANY OF FISHERS sold on Amazon. It follows a day in the life of Moosemeat John, Alaska’s oldest fisherman as he recalls his triumphs, failures, fullfillments, interruptions, loves and losses. He is from the generation of men that fathered the crew on the Cornilia Marie and the rest of the fleet. Read the book and you will learn what is in the blood of these men and why the call of the Bering Sea, Gulf of Alaska, Bristol Bay, and Prince William Sound is unshakeable. Find out how their women feel about their choice.

Hi Guys, As stated on these sites your jobs are wild, in this day and age most people i am sure are behind computers for the the most part( I am ) Captain Phil- these people are right, you need to lay off the cigs and red bull ” no bull” get it! but really, you have been dealt a gift whether you know it or not. the gift of fulfilling peoples dreams thru your work. It is a rough job, no doubt, living in Gloucester I used to see it all the time, it is now but dissappeared. Is your job tough, damn straight! Stay healthy man, your kids need you not just as a father but as a teacher!!!!!!!!!!
May 28th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Like everyone else on this blog, I love the show. I have been poking around on Google Earth, and found Dutch Harbor. It looks as if the pier in the photo is full of boats. However, their is no way to know when the shot was taken. I was wondering if one of you could the satellite picture and leave a KMZ indicating what ships are their.
May 21st, 2008 at 12:58 am
In my younger days, I spent 3 years on a 143′ ocean tug in the South China Sea and, having been in several typhoons, I fully appreciate and understand the dangers you and your crew face every time you leave port. Since then, I’ve captained a couple of tugs in the Gulf of Mexico and the Great Lakes, until retirement. I still have a great love for the sea and, if I were younger, would do it all over again, perhaps on a fishing boat. Thanks again for allowing us to share your experiences. Deadliest Catch is by far the best REAL “reality” show on television.
May 21st, 2008 at 12:31 am
Dear, Capt. Phil
The Cornelia Marie, Time Bandit, & the Northwestern are my favorites, in that order. I was very concerned about the health problem you encountered this past crab season and pray for your full recovery. You & Jonathan are the most likeable captains on the show and I hope to see you guys for many more seasons. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
May 20th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Hey, You guys are so awesome!!!! I can’t evan miss one episode of Deadliest Catch. My mom and I love it. But she likes the Time Bandit, I think she`s crazy not to like the Cornelia Marie. One of the reasons I like the show is that you guys swear a lot, and it drives my mom insane. But it’s very entertaining.
Also you shouldn’t really have too many red bulls and cigarettes, you’re gonna give yourself a heart attack!
One more thing, can you do me a favor and quit smoking. The damned things are gonna kill you.
Oh yeah! My friend and I think that Jake’s so cute!!!!!!!!!!
Luv you,
Meredith
May 13th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Just curious of how much your vessel cost for you to purchase. How much does it cost to operate every year. How about maintenance cost per year.
Great show and I love the boat. Keep up the good catch and the great entertainment!

Phil, Lions eat their young? seriously? anyways I’m watching right now and you got mad at jake….don’t know why I missed it.
I was watching when you saved that guy last year. that was amazing. Phil, you and your crew are good people and deserve the best. Cornelia Marie is one of my favorites. Why was it bad that the cb went off when season was about to start? Is Jake really from Seattle? I live near seattle. That’s pritty cool if he is.
This is for jake: you are cute. There are alot of people who say you’re “hot or “hott”. to me though you got that cute look. A little hot maby but deff cute.
I’ve watched Deadliest Catch since season one. I never miss an episode or a season. My mother worked on a crab boat. Like where you package the crab or something. She did that like 17 yrs ago.
I’d really like an e-mail from you guys just to talk and whatever. missy_here009@yahoo.com
There is no way I’m giving out my number online. That’s just crazy.( no offence to the people who wanna cook for the crew.) I’d cook for you guys but I’m only like 17 so yeah. Maby in a few years.
Later

Capt. I must say that you run your boat very well. You should be very proud of yourself and your family, those with you on board and those supporting you from home. You are doing something that I wish I actually had the cahones to do. Keep up the good work, do well but always keep safety a top priority.
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Hi Phil,
I was just wondering if you really read this sh@#?…do you ever get tired of hearing…I love watching you? Isn’t it amazing how much your life changes once you become a TV star! I know you grew up in the 70’s, you have that “kiss my ass” look about you and you smoke like a freight train…we smoked then because it was cool, now totally addicted, we’re considered the uneducated or dumbasses! I enjoy watching you, you remind me of my old boyfriends. Good Luck!

I was watching the DVD of season 2 and noticed the engineer was Walt Dauderis. It has been quite awhile since I have seen him. I know him from Worcester MA (his home town) and was wondering if you had an email address to give him a shout out. Love the show and can’t wait for season 4 to start. Capt. Phil, you were great on Paula’s Party.

I’m a 35 years old man from Minsk, Belarus (ex USSR). Is there any possibility for me to join you? I’d like it so much. I think my physical state allows me to, but I’m sure there are many other requirements and restrictments. Looking forward to your reply, Pavel.

Hey guys!
First, let me say the men from the Cornelia Marie are AMAZING! Hands down, the most dangerous job for the most insane crew. And I love it. I got hooked to the show one odd night during it’s first season, and haven’t missed an episode yet. College has put up a struggle for me, since my other roommates capture our only TV when Deadliest Catch is on. So of course I get my parents to tape the episodes and I catch up whenever I’m home. Now I must admit that I absolute adore Jake! He’s such a character that just adds to the other amazing personalities on the boat. Oh, that and he drives the Capt. crazy; much like I do to my parents!
Keep up the amazing work you guys do, and STAY SAFE! GL with the next season.

Dear Captain Phil and the Crew,
Our son, Bobby, broke his right wrist playing basketball(for the second time). Summer here in New York is quite uncomfortable. In order to pass the time; we searched around looking for books on various types of fishing techniques(including the vessels). Faithfully, he tunes in to watch the show. My father served in the Merchant Marines and the US Navy for many years. Our son only heard stories about his grandfather(my dad) fishing out of Glouster. After watching your show; he was AMAZED and THRILLED because he had some type of connection to his grandfather/namesake.
Bobby’s patience began wearing thin, so to “cheer him up” we ordered a shirt with the ships logo. He no longer complains about his cast because of the trials that the crew has to face upon the open waters. It takes a tremendous amount of patience(on his part)in order to contend with this cast. Thank you for sharing the knowledge and inspiring a child.
July 17th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
You guys ROCK! (from left to right) LOL, We really enjoy the show and look forward to next season. My parents were Crab fisherman in the Bay Area, I went out a couple of times, pretty cool. Definetly not the conditions you guys face, but a thrill! And the crab was delicious! Be safe and looking forward to wearing the t-shirts ordered proudly!!! My brother fishes Salmon out of Pilar Point in Half Moon Bay CA, his boat is next to legend singer Neil Young, that guy is digging it too! Way to fun!
Harris boys, give Dad a big hug today!
July 17th, 2007 at 1:29 am
Would like to thank you guys for a great show, being in sunny South Africa I can’t even imagine the conditions you guys are going through.
Like to wish you and your crew a very safe and succesfull journey , can’t wait until I next week for your show again.
Regards
Jacques

i have a lot of respect for what you crazy bastards do! i love dc and is my favorite show. i live in seattle and have seen some of the boats featured at fishermans terminal. i have a s’ load of episodes on my dvr to get my deadliest fix. i have a couple of friends that have crabed back in the day. i wish i would have done that when i was a young buck but a 52 yo with bad knees just wouldnt cut it. so i live my dream through all you brave sons of biotches. i have always loved the sea, salmon fishing out of westport washington, to deck handing for my buddy who is a charterboat captian in westport and puget sound for winter blackmouth. id stand at the stern and listen to the twin deisels hum as the sun came up illuminating all the buildings of the beautifull seattle skyline. what a peacfull serene setting. i would love to sit down with you phil and your boys and my son over a few beers and listen to you spin a few yarns…id love to meet you guys. terry a evans… jack-ass2@excite.com
July 10th, 2007 at 10:29 am

Can’t tell you how much I look forward to each episode. How you manage to keep your sanity is beyond me! My son and I have been big fans for two seasons now. There is never a dull moment. I think I enjoy the “unknown” aspect of it the best. And of course, the Cornelia Marie, Captain Phil and the crew are my favorites.
I have a whole new appreciation for crab legs, one of my favorite foods!
We wish you continued success with your business and the show.
June 15th, 2007 at 10:04 am
send me a t-shirt, i will wear it proudly
June 5th, 2007 at 6:15 pm
Love your show but would like to know why you don’t put Bob Rowe to work on your boat. You guys should combine this show with dirty jobs.
Should talk to Bob to see if he would be up for it, I would laugh my ass off.
Good luck and God bless.
June 4th, 2007 at 6:58 pm
Hello, I’m a big fan of the show and the personalities on each and every boat. I was wondering if by chance someone was interested in crabbing, how would they go about doing so? Keep up the good work and good luck on Deadliest Catch!

I watch every episode in awe and amazement. Capt Phil, you are the man. I often feel like dropping everything, catching a flight to Alaska and begging you for a job as a “Greenhorn” What a way to earn a living. WOW you guys really are the greatest. You have my complete admiration. Keep safe and God be with you
May 23rd, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Hey, I just have to say that you are probably my favorite captain and crew on Deadliest Catch. I mostly watch the show to see how your season is going. I only recently saw the episode with the wheel and credit card incident. I was so shocked when I found out that they had brought you the wheel, that I actually said out loud, “How could that happen!?”. I’m only a little younger than your sons are and I can’t help but laugh when you guys are yelling at each other. Sorry. Well, I want to wish you the best of luck and safety on all of your seasons from here on.
May 22nd, 2007 at 8:11 pm
Captain Phil, last week on the show they resqued a guy off one of the boats,he was very sick,I wonder if he’s alright? I’ve been praying that he is.I say a prayer for all of you guys on all the ships everynight before I go to sleep.Shelea

Hey Cornelia Marie and all the crew!!
Placentia California loves you guys too! You have fans in Orange County!!! My husband and I watch you all the time. Our son is a Marine and has Marine buddies that love your show so we TIVO everyone of them so they can watch them when they come over. We BBQ and watch the “Deadliest Catch” all day cause they have a lot of shows to catch up on. I NEVER mind watching them over and over and over! We recently had crab for dinner the other night, after watching you guys I don’t look at crab the same way!! I SAVOR every bite! Thanks!
Stay safe and God bless you guys!

My husband and I started watching DC about a month ago and I’m already addicted to the show (I was hooked after only a few minutes)!! You guys are definitely our favorite crew. Phil, you remind me a lot of my dad. He made a good living as a self-employed truck driver, and while he helped me through college, he taught me a lot about having a strong work ethic and having to earn your own keep.
We are looking forward to seeing you guys on DC next week!! You guys make my career choice look tame (I’m a chemist and many people call me crazy for that!) I’m looking forward to wearing a Cornelia Marie shirt around Seattle!
May 16th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
Isn’t it AMAZING how “15 minutes of FAME” can turn into the BIGGEST CATCH of your LIFE..? Phil, as I can see you care a great deal about your kids and expect them to earn their own way in life and have to work for it. Good to see another Dad who doesn’t just dish out the dough. JUST ONE THING……….STOP……STOP……..Smoking so YOU can enjoy ALL your efforts and be able to really enjoy everything you reap from your new found FAME…..! I’d say you and ONE other CAPTAIN could be the NEXT “american chopper”………. of the FISHING Industry. Better you than ME. Enjoy…………….. Curious how you handle instant fame..? I’m sure your kids love it, but curious how a hard working guy like yourself is taking all this new attention. Wow……! Hats, T-shirts, Coffee cups/mugs, Key Rings, Posters, videos, clothes line, fishing gear, models of the Cornelia Marie, Action figures………..!!!!!! Just like the chopper guys, maybe you’ll have your own line of boats, like they did with bicycles!!!!
May God Bless All your future trips and your Crew………….SPJ
May 16th, 2007 at 11:35 am
for once i thought i would check out the blogs and related sites associated with the show. very amused at the blatant proposals/propositions you are receiving, phil. phone numbers, email addresses, and the such. some of the ladies are quite smitten with your rugged looks and confident manner. just in case you decide to fish in those waters, remember you didn’t cast any bait. fish are usually pretty hungry to bite an empty hook. good luck and god’s speed in the many seasons to come.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:04 pm
Phil, I love feeling the love you have for your beautiful boys. I have 3 boys and I concur with you when it comes to the unconditional love.
If you all ever need a boat mother to come and cook, clean and care for you, I’m there! Take care and stay safe.

I have watched deadliest catch for along time now, and of all the boats yours is my favorate. I felt heart sick for you when you had to put a new prop in and almost fell over at the cost. I have watched the entire king crap season and was well pleased you did very well this year. As I live in the north west and on the coast of oregon I feel that I am right there with you. May you have great fishing.
May 9th, 2007 at 9:29 pm
Phil,
Your boat rocks. It is my favorite and you have become so endearing to me after watching your bitch of a season. I love that you were able to keep it together and make it back out there to your pots. Something I was wondering about. Your boys look tribal, you know as in Native. I am a enrolled member of the Skokomish Indian Tribe and can’t help but wonder if your boys are indian too. Indian or not I wish you and your crew the best of luck and will be praying for you to knock the hell outta the crab.
P.S Indian or not well done on your boys they are cute! and good workers too.
Peace out from the Skokomish Indian Reservation in Washington State, Where are crabs are small but tasty
May 9th, 2007 at 4:48 pm

May 7th, 2007 at 8:58 am
Hi Phil
I watch Deadliest Catch every week with my girlfriend Karen. We think what you do has to be the hardest job around. We have alot of respect for you and, all the other fisherman. We also have alot of respect the way you handle your son’s teaching them right from wrong. I hate seeing the mechanical troubles you have had also, but think you have handled them like a true fisherman. Good luck to you and your crew in the upcoming seasons. Hopefully one day I will be able to meet you and shake your hand. Keep your crew and boat safe.
May 6th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
Skipper. Thanks for being such a great Captain and father. There are only a few men out there these that are truley men and I know you are one of them. My father spent time in the Bearing see as a young man in the Navy and I watch your show and think of him and all his stories of rough seas and adventure he spoke of so often. Keep safe and those boys in line.
God Bless,
Chuck
May 6th, 2007 at 10:11 am
Capt. Phil and crew:
I thoroughly enjoy watching you fellas work. If I had my way, I’d force about 90% of the people I deal with on a daily basis to watch “The Deadliest Catch” to see what hard work is all about (I am a Police Officer). I pray that you stay safe and are blessed with a propeller that remains intact, and may your pots stay full. Take care, guys.
May 5th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Captian Phil& Crew,
Really get into the show.I don’t think you are paid enough for what you do, hope you guys stay safe. Sure would like to aquire some Corneilia Marie merchsndise, any available? I am always rootin for you!!
May 5th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
Dude, I don’t blame you for smoking. I smoke a half a pack just watching you guys. LOL. Hubs and I ran across the show about a month and a half ago and have DVR’d both season’s (2-3, whatever) up to this point, day and night taping. I was born to seafood - Dad taught me as a babe to be totally self-sufficient by the water. The survivors on “Survivor” always piss me off at the bounty they’re surrounded by. Anyway… I spent about 21 years in my spare time standing on the bow deck of a little skiff in a couple feet of water with a dip net in hand, scooping blue crab outa the grass off Pensacola. I loved it when barges passed through the intercoastal and blew their horns at me, standing there in my bikini. LOL. I’ve been fortunate enough to eat massive bowls of King down in Ushuia - probably shipped from the Cornelia Marie. I just want to write and tell you guys that I have a completely new appreciation for crab (manna from the Gods) and will think of you all every time I eat it for the rest of my life. The sacrifice you go through to bring it to our tables is astounding. Thank you. Be safe and God Speed. P.S. I will always pull for you against Sig. The dude has serious ego issues. LOL.
May 5th, 2007 at 9:21 am

Hi there….
I love watching the show and keeping up on the success of the CM!!! I happened to stumble on to the show while channel surfing a couple of weeks ago and now I am completely hooked. When does a new season of shows launch?
I love watching Phil interact with his sons. I grew up in a family business so I relate to being the “Green horn” and putting up with all of the mundane tasks. I am know the General Manager/Owner so I don’t have to take crap from anyone anymore.
I wish the ship nothing but success and safety in the upcoming crab seasons and I will be glued to my DVR watching every episode.
Ira Mazer, Los Angeles, CA.
P.S. - It would be cool to see you on the vessel sometime during the season.

Woo hoo, you guys rock! Yep, just like the theme song of DC!! I love this show, and have nothing but complete admiration for the crew of CM (as well as all the other ships & their crews). I am riveted to my seat with every episode.
Captain ((Phil)) take care of yourself. Sending you positive vibes!
Okie dokie pokies, gonna have to wander the rest of the way through CM site to see what kind of goodies you have for sale.
Just cannot imagine how you all do it. Unbelievable. God Bless you & your families.
hugs, Lisa

I just saw the episode where the cornelia marie needed a new propeller, I hope that Cpt Phil is ok I know the blood pressure thing can be a big concern and having to deal with children on top of that. My heart goes out to him.
My 10 year old daughter, Mikkie (short for Michaela) and I watch the deadliest catch and we follow two ships (that’s what she says) those are the cornelia marie and the northwestern.
Mikkie was very entertained when Cpt Phil told his son that he wasn’t a man until he pulled a tooth out with a pair of pliers. Which promted a conversation about how injuries large or small are treated out on the open sea. I told her that if the injury was really bad that the captain would have to call the coast guard or take the ship back to dock.
We watch the deadliest catch together, she is more interested by what is happening with the cornelia marie and that other ship than she is with hannah montana or the fairly odd parents.
Cpt Phil you and your crew are awesome….Keep up the good work

I am a 3rd generation alaska fisherman, I watch the show
all the time, so does my Dad and all my running partners.
I crabbed up there in 78-79, made enough to buy a gillnetter and SE Salmon permit in 1980.
A couple episodes on your tendering would be interesting,
some footage of the seiners in Togiak battling over a set, pumping herring and some gillnet action in Bristol Bay.
It’s nice for people to see the hard work and risks involved in fishing, some people think we drive around in boats, drink beer and $100 bills jump into the boat.
Gillnetting salmon in SE in the summer is nothing like the Bering Sea in the winter,,,but what is.
Good fishing to you guys.

Yes!! A website for my fave vessel at last!! I would love to find merchandise and photos. Thanks for all the hard work you do to bring King Crabs to this Georgia girl’s table. I personally think that Capt Phil is the sexiest..

Captain Phil and Crew hello from Plano, Texas. I just returned from Barrow, AK working a contract for their hospital. Nightime temps -50 with winds of 20 kt+ during the day. I like the adventuresome spirit, but I had no TV in my apt. at the hospital. I was frantic that I couldn’t even watch reruns. Glad to return home in time for 2007 season! I have a sailboat and love the ocean, but what you guys do is something else. I hope you, the crew and all the rest of the boats can put up with the camera crews and the editing for many more seasons to come.

He now wants it recorded on the media center! Love the show, your crew is my favorite. Love the show about the credit cards! Stinken kids, they think just because they don’t have to pay it, spend it ! Stay safe, catch tons!

Captain Phil,
Come on, you guys seriously need better dental care. Here’s the deal, next time you guys are back in Seattle, I will be happy to provide any of your crew with free dental care. I’m a young dentist with a new practice of my own and my wife is a HUGE fan of the show. I’m serious here, so let me know. See my website at http://www.jacynelsondds.com for more info.
I have nothing but respect and awe for the work you do and would love to help you guys out. Keep up the good work!

Hey Guys..Love your perfomance..Question,Why are thier no “sprinter boats” that can cruise out there and pick up people for reasons such as medical attn or ‘court dates’ or family emergency’s. Of course it would come at a price but at least you can continue to haul pot’s uninterupted? Is there a system in place? If not , I would consider purchasing a boat and paying a cap’t to handle the situations as they would arise…Be safe and God Bless
May 1st, 2007 at 8:16 pm
As I was watching Blake’s crew pull the pot you welded shut.. I thought you should have placed a note on the pot saying, ” Blake, at least this pot is closed. Since your mouth is not.” LOL.

OK no joke, Phil you make crab fishing so damn hot!!! Your reactions to your sons are so sweet as a mother of three boys myself I feel your pain, but do you ever worry about them being safe. Take care of your self and your health high blood pressure is no joke and the show wouldnt be the same with out you. Be safe we’re all praying for you.

Hey guys,
It is really exciting to see Jake (who is my age) do so well in such a tough job. I give you a lot of credit for being able to do it! I bet all the ladies are after you! Ha Ha. Watching all of you on Deadliest Catch is exciting for me becuase I have lived on the Ocean all of my life and he been around boats just as long! My friends and I go to Martha’s Vineyard during the summer on our boats! Which of course is nothing compared to the trips you make. And I know this might be a little late but Happy Birthday Jake! My birthday is in 6 days!
I hope all of you are well and stay safe!

Big Fans here!! Capt. Phil is one of our Fave Captains! We love your crew too! We love seeing the Cornelia Marie and the Northwestern stack up the totals each season!! Thank you for teaching us about crab fishing and letting us see how hard your job is. We know it really doesn’t do justice to how hard it really is. We really enjoy the show. Wishing you and yours the very best. Stay Safe, Stay Warm, Thank you for the entertaining show.

Phil,
I was sorry to see the expensive propeller problem that you had in a recent episode. My occupation is engineer. When I saw what happened to your prop I was wondering if it was caused by a manufacturing defect. The way that blade was broken I wondered if it wasnt a weak spot from when the manufacturer cast it. I noticed that you commented that it had recently been replaced. You may want to take that up with the manufacturer. For sure you should ask them what they do to inspect them when they make them. Do they use Xray or magnaflux to find stress cracks. You might want to ask to see the manufacturing records and inspection documents. They may have sold you a defective prop. When they sent you the wrong replacement prop it sure was clear that they did not exactly have their act together. By the way my wife and I love the show!!

Phil - do you have room for a guest on board? This would be a great angle that would capture the imaginations of a lot of people around the world. Just for part of the seasson - just for the first unload or something like that. There are some very interesting marketing opportunities that we could create for the chance to ride aboard the Cornelia Marie. Email me back if you or Discovery want some ideas. Good luck the rest of the season! HH

I started watching “THE DEADLIEST CATCH” a couple of years ago. To me you guys out their are doing a thankless job(other than cash rewards) Cudos to all who do this job. I’ve been a Towboat operator for going on 30+ years. And I have never had the desire to go “crabbing”. You guys work way toooo hard for me! LOL Thats Okay with me. I’ll keep going to the store and buying it! and you guys keep catching it! Even if the price goes up. I’ll keep buying it!! I enjoy eating Kings and opies! And if it makes a difference coming from an old Tugboater.
Thankyou!, for you all do!

Hey- I could never imagine spending that much time in that weather and physical strain. You guys are an awesome family-Phil- watch the blood pressure!!! I want to see a shirt/ hat or both that says ” Cornelia Marie Style!”. It has become a top saying around here. Need to wear it. So I wanna buy it! You are our favorite crew and really love watching you work as a family. Take care!
May 1st, 2007 at 7:23 am
Phil, you are the absolutely coolest skipper!!!! I am engaged to a former North Atlantic fisherman, from Iceland, and he has told me stories. How do you do it???? The Cornelia Marie is the BEST!!!! Hope the shirts and all come out soon. I work 3rd shift and I always stay up long enough to watch the DC, everyday. Keep up the great work, keep your noses in the wind and I pray that you and all your crew stay safe.

How about getting a gal on that cute little vessel so she could cook up some nice yummy meals for all you guys (not me of course) but it would be fun to watch some of the….. hmm…how shall I put it, crabbier guys, interact w/ a lady! Not that you don’t have some nice eye candy already, but the boat needs a little ‘feminine touch’…oh ok…never mind! Love the show darn it!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Hello Cornelia Marie,
I absolutely love the show! I can’t believe the hardwork that all of you endure everyday. Ever since that bet was placed I have been hoping that you win the bet. I also thought it was hilarious for what you did to Blake, but for him saying all of you “weren’t creative”; he wasn’t too creative in “getting you back” either. Goodluck with the season and I wish you calm waters. By chance is Jake single? I think he is such a determined person being my age and working such a hard and dangerous job. I’d love to be able to chat with him through email or mail. My email is nmcole1028@aol.com. Goodluck with the crabs!
